  1. As mentioned above: However... While I was writing this reply, the GUI appeared, it just took much longer than when running without root. So, running under root, the migration runs for a while then I get this in the GUI: ! Migration failed Packets larger that max_allowed_packet are not allowed. at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlStream.SendPacket (MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlPacket packet) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.NativeDriver.ExecutePacket (MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlPacket packetToExecute) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 Having started with a clean MySql database, I end up with the following new databases: rep_7 repositories rep_7 has many tables, all are empty. Looking in the database "repositories.repository" I see the record with "iobjid=7" is "sname=iCrumz". This the oldest and largest of my (15) repositories. Looking at my SqlLite tables, I see the largest is about 55Meg, so I set "max_allowed_packet=100M" in MySQL's config (my.cnf) and the migration completed successfully!! Sometimes, I just need someone to talk to - Your help is very much appreciated :-)
  2. On Mac OS X I'm trying to migrate Plastic server data from SqLite to MySql The process starts, seems to complete copying one repo, then crashes with this error Unhandled Exception: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "/Applications/PlasticSCM/server/dbmigration.conf" is denied. at System.IO.File.Delete (System.String path) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at admintool.DatabaseMigrator.DeleteFile (System.String fileName) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at admintool.DatabaseMigrator.CleanupPendingOperations () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at admintool.DatabaseMigrator.Start () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 dbmigration.conf <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <DbConfig xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <ProviderName>mysql</ProviderName> <ConnectionString>Server=localhost;User Id=root;Password=|SoC|2rJzZ/SgqryQArLUTyv2eg==;Database={0};Pooling=true</ConnectionString> <AdminConnectionString /> <DatabaseCreationCommands /> <DatabasePath /> <DatabasePrefix /> <DatabaseSuffix /> <DatabaseCollation /> <ColumnCollation /> <MaxCachedTrees>50</MaxCachedTrees> <LastUsedCsets /> <LastUsedCsetsLoad>-1</LastUsedCsetsLoad> <FullTreeRevisionsLoad>20000</FullTreeRevisionsLoad> </DbConfig> db.conf <DbConfig> <ProviderName>sqlite</ProviderName> <ConnectionString>Data Source={0};Synchronous=Off;Journal Mode=Delete;Pooling=false</ConnectionString> <DatabasePath></DatabasePath> </DbConfig> Details: Path to installation: /Applications/PlasticSCM Plastic version: 5.4.16.633 Mac OS version 10.10.5 Executing: /Applications/PlasticSCM/mono/bin/mono admintool.exe from directory: /Applications/PlasticSCM/server When the process crashes, there is one of 16 rep_xx and a repositories database created in MySQL. The file dbmigration.conf conf is flagged 777. I presume the problem is related to strict security on the `/Applications` folder. I have tried copying the PlasticSCM directory to my user home directory, but the migrate process still looks for it's files in original location. I have tried executing the above command while logged in as root (`sudo su`), but then the admintool program fails to load, I get a new cursor in terminal, but the admintool GUI never appears. Any tips on how to proceed would be much appreciated.

    Does MacPlastic.app support Gitsync

@Fred Thank you that's helpful! Any one know about Admin Tool? Is there a command line version that will do DB migration from SqLite to MySQL?
  4. Plastic Community edition macplastic.app version: 5.4.16.688 OS X: 10.10.5 There is no longer a "Sync with Git" menu item on the branch context menu. The command existed on the earlier 5.4.16.633 Plastic client. Has the "Sync with Git" command been moved or removed in the newer version? --- A related issue is the Admin tool I didn't see admintool.exe in this version, and although it is documented here there is no information on how to start it. https://www.plasticscm.com/documentation/administration/plastic-scm-version-control-administrator-guide.shtml#Chapter7:AdminTool I have been able to start the admintool in earlier versions on the Mac. Is admin tool missing from version ..688 for Mac.? If so, is it possible to migrate existing SqLite data to MySql with this version?
  5. Yes very helpful! I just want to point out that the command Right click --> Delete --> donĀ“t delete items on disk Must be done from the 'Items' page, not 'Pending Changes'.

Plastic Client times out on start

I have resolved the problem. It was not related to Plastic! After several hours of troubleshooting, including restoring older backups of ~/.plastic4 and /Applications/PlasticSCM folders, a final check to confirm the cli client and server still worked... cm lrep localhost:8087 still shows all repos, but... cm lrep dev:8087 timed out! (a DNS problem?) cm lrep 192.168.105:8087 timed out !!! $ ping dev PING dev (192.168.1.150) ... .150!!! should have been .105 I turns out that the network configuration had been changed from "Using DHCP with manual address" to "using DHCP", with the result that the machine's IP had changed! But the local DNS had not caught the changed IP. After correcting that, Plastic is working again! Thanks for all your help and suggestions, and sorry to pester you with a non-Plastic problem! Best regards, -Glen

Plastic Client times out on start

Here's a short session covering the above command. It looks normal as far as I can tell. Attempting to start Plastic GUI still fails with a timeout message, as before. $ sudo plasticsd start Starting PlasticSCM server: OK $ sudo plasticsd status PlasticSCM server is started (pid 56365) $ cm lrep localhost:8087 7 iCrumz localhost:8087 8 microscpe localhost:8087 9 iCrumz.Meteor localhost:8087 10 Yeoman-Marionette-demo localhost:8087 12 Marionette-Gentle localhost:8087 13 iCrumz.js localhost:8087 14 iCrumz.yo-bb.js localhost:8087 15 SPA-project localhost:8087 16 iCrumz.native.SPA.js localhost:8087 $ $ sudo plasticsd stop Stopping PlasticSCM server: OK $ sudo plasticsd start --console Starting PlasticSCM server: OK $ What's different here is that the 'plasticsd start --console' command now results in an OK message, where previously is returned a FAILED message (above). Here's the server log covering the above console activity: 2014-02-05 21:31:46,512 99f33c6d-2ad9-40f5-9436-556a70acf6f5 root at Server:Dev-Mac-WS.local INFO Transaction - Transaction timeout -> 120000ms 2014-02-05 21:31:47,846 root at INFO Channel - 'sinklevel' compression mode set. all metadata will be serialized 2014-02-05 21:31:47,846 root at INFO Channel - 'BufferPoolMax' is set to '10'.
