  1. So I'm looking at getting my art team off of Unity Collab and onto Plastic Gluon for managing and sharing our art assets, and as part of my quick guide doc that I'm putting together, I mentioned that we should remove any folders that we're no longer working with, in order to reduce the size of our repo in the cloud and thus reduce the cost of our plastic membership. Then i realized that because you can un-delete files, that the revisions before the deletion must still be stored in the cloud, so deleting them does nothing for cloud repo size. for non-cloud edition plastic, I've seen the re
  2. Hi, I couldn't find the answer to this elsewhere, but what is the largest recommended repository size for PlasticSCM? Both in terms of file numbers and disk space. Thanks, Richard
  3. Hi, So my team has been using a repo to push different builds for different projects and have run out of space on the drive we're using. We unfortunately just had everything on separate branches in a deployment repo. Since we don't really need the builds anymore is there an easy way to clean this up? We can't hard delete branches and I'm not sure what's going on with the blobs but that is where all the memory is taken up. Is there anything we can do about that?
  4. Hello. I'm new to Plastic SCM GUI. My question is: Where are the files located on the hard drive (Windows) that Plastic SCM records of the working project in Unity. I noticed that Plastic SCM takes up a lot of disk space when checking in. Now, my projects are also quite big. I'm also not using the cloud repository. Thank you.
  5. I am getting the following error trying to pull m,y repository back from the cloud after a reinstall of Windows and the plastic client: The sync process was unable to replicate the following branch: Branch: /main Operation: Pull Source repository: HidSharp@worldwizards@cloud Destination repository: HidSharp@local Error description: Padding is invalid and cannot be removed.
  6. Hi, Basically the topic says all. Has anything changed since 2012? http://www.plasticscm.net/index.php?/topic/905-get-files-from-a-specific-branchlabel-without-a-workspace/ I just would like to obtain plain files and directories, without tracking them by Plastic. Best regards.

    Repo URL

I'm curious how we build out a URL for our repositories. I saw that Plastic supported Git commands and was looking to use Unity Cloud Build with out project that is stored on a repository in the cloud service. I know that the connection is <Organization Name>@cloud.plasticscm.com but I don't know how to specify the repository in the URL. Can we even reference it by URL? Thanks for any assistance.
  8. Per the release notes for the new --filter command should allow me to specify a specific repository for triggers to fire on See http://www.plasticscm.com/download/releasenotes.aspx (I couldn't paste it, and the link java thing froze the page) 1. Create a testing repository called TestRepo (TestRepo1.jpg) 2. Setup a trigger which will simply fail for use in exploratory testing (TestRepo2.jpg) @echo off echo %PLASTIC_USER% : %PLASTIC_REPOSITORY_NAME% exit 1 3. Attempt to create a label: Success (TestRepo3.jpg) 4. Remove trigger and recreate without the --filter option (Te
  9. Hi! I have installed Plastic server and client on my Ubuntu server from Server says its version is My Windows client is the latest from downloads section ( - confirmed via cm version). When I try to connect to the server I get Is it normal that latest WIndows distribution is different from latest Linux distribution? I guess best fix would be to downgrade my client to 5.4.14?
  10. We have a workspace for a whole project, part of this turns out to be re-usable and as such we want to move it out of it's current repository into it's own and setup an xLink so that the existing repository uses the library from it's new location. We shall then also set up xLinks to use the library in 2 new project repositories. The question is how can I move a directory (with history) from one repository to another? One approach that I've considered is to copy the whole existing repository (somehow) and the move the relevant library directory to the root and delete the rest of the rep
  11. Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me here to relink my repository and possibly explain how this has occurred. The plastic server has been running fine for over a year with no issues. Today however it has lost our main repository, to be clear all other repositories are still listed in the list of Repositories except our main one. I've had a quick nose around the sql databases and the repositories database repository table also has no entry for our missing repository! There is however a rep_2 database which appears to be our repository. So is there a way I can relink this datab
  12. Hello, I've been testing out Plastic SCM for a few days (community edition), and I'm slowly getting comfortable with how it works. Coming from Mercurial, my first stumbling block was trying to differentiate between a repository and a workspace in Plastic SCM. If I had to explain it to another person, I would currently say something like, "the repository is the actual database of all changes while the workspace is your current 'view' (or 'slice') of the repository." Is this incorrect? I have another confusion point dealing with repositories and workspaces. In Mercurial, if I pulled from
  13. I'm quite new to Plastic and finding my way so will probably look to this forum for help in doing that. So my question is this; in the free lessons on the Plastic website, the example sets up a new Repository and it is named after the project (something like Dokan). Does this mean that it is good practice to create a new Repository for each project? e.g. I have many clients/websites - should each client site/project have its own Repository or can I create one Repository and just make a separate Workspace for each project?
  14. Interesting! I've been using Plastic SCM for several months now and really appreciate the code organization it provides. Currently, all of my code projects are in separate repositories with a single workspace. I use the GUI interface to manage the code as a solo developer. Today I decided to test out creating a single repository for housing two different project workspaces and one common library. To simplify things, I created a Test root and three subdirectories: M:\MyCode\PlasticSCM\Test\TestLibrary M:\MyCode\PlasticSCM\Test\TestProject1 M:\MyCode\PlasticSCM\Test\TestProject2
  15. Hey Guys - We run Plastic completely distributed. I know that when a repository is created you end up with a new DB named rep_1, rep_2, etc. Does Plastic care what the underlying DB names are for the repositories? For example, if I create a repository on my local server named 'NewYork', the actual DB created may be rep_4. Now, if I create 'NewYork' in my central repository server, the actual DB may be named rep_7. I expect Plastic does not care about rep_4 versus rep_7. As long as I setup my sync properly, NewYork->NewYork should be fine, right? Thanks, Tom
  16. Why do all the repositories show twice, once each for the server in uppercase and lowercase?
  17. Continuing my exploration of PlasticSCM, I'm looking at browsing repositories on multiple servers. This may be for any number of reasons. To start, I'm working fully distributed. The client is open and connected to my local repository (GSOHL-Dxxxx:xxxx). However I want to view branches on another server. So I open the Repository Browser: From there, I right-click on the DMOONFIRE-Dxxxx:xxxx server and choose Branch Explorer. That opens a view of that server. Beautiful - I have a view of the branches on a 2nd server. But the UI at this point is confusing. This opened in a tab under my wo
  18. Hi All, I have three repositories: - Libraries - Products - Dev In DevWkp, that points to the Dev repository I've created 2 xlinks using: cm xlink -w -rs Libraries / cs:0@Libraries@ cm xlink -w -rs Products / cs:0@Products@ I've done some work in DevWkp, created some branches, ci, co, done deliveries, labeled... All worked well until today when I tried once more to deliver work I've done in a sub-brach into its parent branch. Today, when I try to do this merge, only the changes I've made in the Libraries are coming up in the "merge from changeset" t
  19. Our company hired a software house to develop our software. They have 20+ repositories in their SCM server. They use Plastic SCM Version I have downloaded and have yet to install it pending some research on the best way to get our repository installed. I have their servers settings, LDAP, etc.. I need to know the best method to setup Plastic-SCM so that we can install our repository from them. Do they use replicate to export the repository, and then what command do I use to install it. Or do I create a repository and then they export all branches and then I import?
  20. I recently installed Plastic SCM server on our corporate server and installed the client software on both my desktop and laptop computer while they were in the office and connected to the server. I tried to create a repository and I get the following message: Error: There has been an unexpected error "Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_object'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.object'. The statement has been terminated.". For more information check the server log. However, when I try to create a new workspace I get the following error message: No repositories found. Chec
