PeteW
Hi I have downloaded PlasticSCM to see if it is going to be suitable for my company's needs. I am based in Scotland, and other colleagues are based in Canada. I would like to have PlasticSCM set up on each of our PCs, with local repositories on each individual PC, a repository on the Scotland server and a repository on the Canada server. Then I envision the servers replicating their data once check-ins have been made. Maybe this is not a sensible way for us to work - what do you think? In order to assess whether PlasticSCM is suitable for our needs, I want to install a repository on the Scotland server (using MS SQL Server). The local repository on the desktop PC can be SQLite or SQL Express I guess. However, I am having difficuly setting up the repository on my server. I could do with some VERY simple instructions to follow for how to set up SQL Server with a repository. I have read through a great deal of the documents from your site, and have installed the PlasticSCM system on my server and edited the db.conf file, but seem to be getting nowhere. The latest error message I received was: "Invalid object name 'seid'." I know I'm probably missing something obvious, but I can't see it at the moment. Any help would be appreciated. manu
Hi Pete, check in the SQL server management tool if you have any of the 'rep_X' or 'repositories' databases, if you have any please remove them and try to start the server again. Make sure in your SQLServer db.conf file you have specified the "DatabasePath" tag, I've seen some failures due to the missing tag -> http://www.plasticscm.com/infocenter/technical-articles/kb-how-to-configure-plastic-scm-with-sql-server.aspx Check also that you have a valid user for creating Databases. The easiest way to check it it trying first with the "sa" user. I'll be happy to connect with you if you have further problems. Best regards, Manu. PeteW
Thanks Manu, I seem to have managed to create the repositories and rep_1 databases on SQL Server on my server here now. I'll have to do some more reading to see where to go from here. Pete
manu
Hi Pete, do you have any failure now that the 2 default databases are created?
PeteW
Hi Seems to be working now - I have a repository on my Server and I make changes on my desktop and do check-ins and then I have pushed these changes to the server. Then I connected a laptop and pulled the project from the server and managed to get the applicaiton working on the laptop. I'm currently making changes on the laptop, and trying to check-in these changes onto the Server repository, so that I can then pull them into my desktop, but the changes made on the laptop do not seem to be replicated on the Server. I'll have to read through some documents to see what I am doing wrong. Pete

manu
We finally used the Sync view to get both repositories syncronized. http://www.plasticscm.com/releases/4.1/manuals-html/en/distributedsystem.htm#_Toc321581906
