Confusion about starting new, large Workspace

Recommended Posts

Say I have a folder on my Mac, 300mb. For the job "Carrots" and local folder Carrots/ on my Mac. It's never been under Plastic before.

1 - I run a Plastic server, so I make a new repo on my own server, "Carrot Repo"

2 - Here on my Mac, of course I make a new workspace "Carrot Workspace", connected to Carrot Repo.  I set the local folder as "Carrots/" folder

Now ..what's the best way to upload that "initial 300 mb" ??

Do I simply ... (1) go to "Items", (2) add all the folders "Add to source control" and then (3) go to "PENDING CHANGES" and indeed "CHECK IN" everything?

Or is that wrong - is there a better way to "first" upload your original 300 mb project?

Thanks!

Hi Fattie!

The easiest way is doing the Add to source control.

But it really depends on you!

You can perform a initial checkin with the root folder and add the subfolders in a separated branch each...

There's no problem handling large workspaces!

Actually, plastic can handle repositories with hundreds of GB :)

You don't need to worry about it.

You only get all 1 time ;)

Got it, thanks !!

Just by the way.  On the forum here.  I have the setting "Send me email" when someone replies.  In fact, I did not get email for your reply here for example.  Perhaps if you could reply to this again, I will double-check to see if I get the email.  THANKS

Hi Fat Johnnie!

Glad I helped!

That's strange, I always get the e-mail when someone replies my posts.

But here is your response, as you asked! :P

Welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy Plastic as much as I do! :)
