Cloud version authentication key reset?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are trying to on board 8 or so developers to the individual cloud version(not team) of Plasticscm.  We asked for encryption during setup up of our Organization.  We were able to set up the repo's and work spaces as one would hope.  One dev moved over our files (migrating from perforce) and uploaded them.  Not a problem.  But when anyone tries to download them, we get the "check your authentication password" error unable to decrypt.  I understand best practice suggests we all use the same authentication password.  It appears we have one in use that is unknown, or never setup that is limiting our ability to use the system.  Hoping there is a way to reset that.

Is there a way to edit that master authentication password key for the company using only the Cloud install?

Thank you,

Vance

Hello Vance,

I'm afraid it's not possible to either remove the encryption key or change it.

If you need an organization without encryption or any other key you'll need to create it from scratch.

For security reasons you are the only side knowing the key so you are the only one able to decrypt the data.

The key can't be change as there's data already encrypted with that key, any other key will fail decrypting the data.

Hi,

Yes, as manu explained, we can't actually decrypt your data. Your data leaves your server encrypted, is stored encrypted in the cloud, and is only decrypted when it returns to your server.

In case you DO have the cryptedservers.conf file and the .key files in one of the machines locally, we can help you recovering the password in plain text, but this password is never in our Cloud server.

Hope it helps,

pablo
