kennethharder
Hey awesome plastic peps, I have been trying to setup the plastic client on a virtual machine running debian 8.2. When I run any of the commands that I know; e.g. lrep or mkwk, I get a "z"-error. I have attached a log cm.log.txt. Since I could not use apt-get, presumably because I am running debian 8.2, I have installed mono as suggested here http://www.plasticscm.net/index.php?/topic/2193-install-on-ubuntu-1404/ and the plastic binaries using this link https://www.plasticscm.com/download/downloadinstaller/5.4.16.717/plasticscm/linux_x86/clientzip?Flags=None, which might have affected the installation? manu
Hi there!! why can't you use apt-get? this thread: http://www.plasticscm.net/index.php?/topic/2193-install-on-ubuntu-1404/ explains how to install mono and plastic using apt-get packages? I'm confused since we support Debian 8: https://www.plasticscm.com/plastic-for-linux/index.html Can you post me the content of this file? /opt/plasticscm5/mono/etc/mono/config And the result of this command? ldconfig -p | grep libz
kennethharder
Hey Manu, Many thanks for the swift reply When running "apt-get install plasticscm-client-complete" I get "unable to locate package plasticscm-client-complete". I have tried using "Debian_8", "Debian_8.1", "Debian_8.2" instead of the <distro_id> in "deb https://www.plasticscm.com/plasticrepo/plasticscm-common/<distro_id>/ ./" This folder "plasticscm5" does not exist in "/opt/plasticscm5/mono/etc/mono/config" Running "ldconfig -p | grep libz" returns "libz.so.1 (libc6) => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libz.so.1"
manu
Hi there! we have just try a clean installation for a Debian 8 machine and everything seems to be working just fine Can you tell me if you are specifying the "common" and "complete" packages at the "/etc/apt/sources.list" file? It would be something like: # PlasticSCM common packages repository deb https://www.plasticscm.com/plasticrepo/plasticscm-common/Debian_8.1/ ./ # PlasticSCM-latest repository deb https://www.plasticscm.com/plasticrepo/plasticscm-latest/Debian_8.1/ ./ Notice that "Debian_8" and "Debian_8.2" are not valid URLs. Best.
kennethharder
Hey Manu, Thanks for the help. It works perfectly now! I deleted the manually installed version and redid everything on this site https://www.plasticscm.com/plastic-for-linux/index.html It was presumably because when editing the sources.list from Debian_8.2 to Debian_8.1 I forgot to download the key file and reload the apt cache. Big fan of PlasticSCM! Keep up the good work. Can I mark the topic as solved?
manu
Great! Don't wory this is just a regular forum thread, it doesn't have the "resolve" button enabled. Very happy to know it's working now
