(Re)activating a formerly deactivated user

Recommended Posts

From the CLI client, we initially activated a user with the activateuser command, then deactivated him with the deactivateuser command. Note that including this user, we are within our max license count.

After trying to re-activate the user using activateuser again, the licenseinfo command shows he is both ACTIVE and INACTIVE. When trying to start the GUI client, he gets an error message (attached) instead of the client starting up.

How do we clear this condition, and prevent it from happening later?

Thanks!!!

Dean

We worked with Dean and his team, and found out that the license they had was the 15 users CE license, and not the purchased 16 users license, so basically, the new license send to them were not installed on that server, thats why activating the 16th. user failed with a msg about limits reached!

To help other users having these kind of issues, execute within a workspace the command

cm li

which will list active users provisioned in the Plastic SCM server.

Also, increase the debug on the server as indicated in this KB: http://www.plasticscm.com/infocenter/technical-articles/kb-enabling-logging-for-plastic-scm-part-i.aspx

And, look into the server log in ..\plasticscm\server\loader.log.txt and see what license is loaded something like this:

2011-08-09 09:23:21,237 (null) (null) INFO Codice.CM.Server.LicenseManager - License loaded. Users 16; Type eltLimitedDate; Generated 06/10/2011 00:21:13; Expires 06/10/2012 00:00:00; Client "XYZ"

cheers,

Miller
