Setting up a cloud repository, I get an error "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8084".
I look and find that the Windows service is not running.
I try to start it an get an error.
I run `cm licenseinfo", there is none. I plasticd.exe --console and am told "Plastic SCM server can't work without a license file".
I log on to the web interface, check my licenses and am told "You don't need a license key to run the Cloud Edition client".
Sorry to be such a nuisance, but how should I proceed?

Excellent new! Thanks. I am occasionally without internet access, so self-hosted works best for me.
Sorry to sound stupid, but is there a guide? I tried, but seemed to end up with cloud hosting.

I used PlasticSCM, self-hosted a few years back (in fact, when I say "self-hosted", I may not have used my localhost Apache server; maybe it was just a Windows program or service).
I haven't used it for a few years & would like to start again, for my hobby coding.
Can I still self-host the free edition?
If I have to use the very generous 5gB cloud service, are my files encrypted?
Can I still self-host the free edition?

And, indeed, uninstalling & re-installing did the trick. Ten million thank yous
