Cannot merge text files with non-standard extensions

Hi, all. We'd like to report a problem with Plastic SCM - it cannot merge text files which have non-standard extensions. For example, Plastic SCM assumes that *.glade files (produced by Glade, the GTK designer tool), are binary files with an unknown format, and is unable to merge them. In fact, these files are pure text XML. I guess the same thing would happen with other text files with a more exotic extension, for example *.ui files produced by Qt Designer. This, combined with the fact that Plastic cannot use third party merge tools, makes us spend a lot of time manually merging our *.glade files or blindly check them in and hope for the best. Thank you for your time.

Hi, Dimitar:

In fact, Plastic can manage these situations. By default, Plastic recognises some extensions as text extension files, and the rest are intended as binary extension files. This behaviour can be changed if you right-click on a .glade file in the Items view, select the "Change revision type..." and then "text". From that moment on, all *.glade files will be recognized as text files and therefore you will be able to use our mergetools and difftools.

On the other hand, Plastic support using kdiff tool to implement differences; if you want to know how to configure it with Plastic, please, tell us. You can contact us writing to support support@codicesoftware.com in order to obtain quicker answers.

Sorry for the inconveniences and best regards,

Luis
