Why branch explorer is hidden when no solution is open?

My understanding is that the branch explorer is not bound with any particular solution and should not be hidden. This way the user can switch between branches before loading the solution and in this case potentially skip reloading the whole solution if the .sln file gets changed between branches.

The reason is the following:

When there is no solution opened, Plastic SCM doesn't know which is the current workspace. In consecuence, it doesn't know which workspace use for show branches, or other Plastic SCM views.

This could be a bit annoying, but you can always use the Plastic SCM client to switch branch, and then open the solution in Visual Studio.

Best regards,

Daniel
