Plastic SOLO user - Help!!!

Hi!

I'm an amateur SOLO developer, working on my pc, with no plans to expand my business to a team.

I just need a version control system suitable enough for 1 person on a single PC.

So i downloaded PlasticSCM community Edition BUT I cannot configure my installation properly.

Plastic asks for a server Address which also is being used by the client setup.

I need a local repository to be created on an administrator account to be used by the same

administrator account on the same pc.

Is this possible?

Should I provide an adress and which address?

Help!!:-k

Pablo, thank you!

I found what i was looking for.

All I had to do was to accept my computers name and the default port on the server configuration

and then put again my computers name as the address on the client configuration.

On the client configuration the word "address" tricked me and I input a number so nothing worked.

=>Oh!! This thing is fast! And beautiful too!( visual studio 2010 integration ).

Is there a toolbar? I cant find one. I'm on visual studio professional 2010 sp1.

Thank you again for your kind assistance.

"localhost" would have worked too.

Well, if you enter your server IP address it will work too, of course (in your case the same computer)

You should find a menu with a bunch of Plastic options, basically accessing most of the available "views". Can you find it?

Take a look here:

Pablo, I really feel the need to thank you,

for this excellent tool

which you give to individuals and small teams for free.

The last 72 hours I test drived many Version control programs

and you got by far the easiest and least demanding installation,

the most complete and beautiful UI,

the most extended Visual Studio 2010 integration

and one of the most competitive feature sets available.

I'm totally impressed and if ever the need arise i'll be a very happy customer!

I've already suggested Plastic to 2 other fellow developers and i'm eager

to see what the future holds for Plastic.

i believe that every developer no matter how small or big are his needs

should at least try Plastic.

Thank you ,

a friend from Greece.

EDIT: Yes, I found all the menus, File->PlasticSCM, View->PlasticSCM,

File->Open->Open from PlasticSCM end right-clicking on files etc.

* sometimes default workspace won't initialise when the Vs2010 starts and loads the

last opened solution. Then if i try to reopen the solution from the plastic menu

(File->Open->open from plastic) the problem insists.

To solve this i've got to do a check-in which i cancel when the

check-in window appears to initialise workspace. It's just a two-click annoyance.

Have you got any idea? maybe i shouldn't have closed the branch explorer window?8-[

* I can't stress enough that Plastic is the best solution I found by far...

and mercurial must noted as also an easy and generally trouble-free experience

for a solo or small team user.

But Plastic is indeed excel\:d/lent!

------------------------------------

EDIT 2: unistalling and then reinstalling Plastic solved the workspace initialisation

problem. ?y experiments with Plastic and others and the mishandling i gave it

due to i'm new in the use of revision control software was probably the cause.

I'm looking forward to see Plastic SCM 4. Please, be hurry!
