PlasticSCM client fatal crash after "View history as 2D revision tree"

Every time I've tried this the applciation just disappears. Actually, that's not a new issue - got it from the very beginning of PlasticSCM client installation, but forgot about it.

It's most likely something specific to my machine, since it works fine for other colleagues. Is there some dependency that might not be installed correctly for me to check?

Hmm, running the PlasticSCM client "as an Administrator" seems to solve the issue (under Windows 7). Very peculiar, what is so special about "2D revision tree" to require admin priveleges? Everything else seems to work fine under a normal user.

Working without the Admin user, are you able to open the branch explorer without problems? And custom branch explorer diagrams (Right click in a branch -> Branch Explorer ...)?

Let's try the following, close the GUI.

Please remove the following files from your "C:\Users\Manuel\AppData\Local\plastic4" directory, or make a backup, but get rid of them in that directory.

Check also if you have any Plastic SCM configuration file under: "C:\Users\Manuel\AppData\Local\VirtualStore", remove them if you find any.

Then, restart the GUI as a regular user, tell me if it fails.

Hmm, did that... here are the files that I had in the directory:

The crash happened again under normal user.

Interestingly after that running as Admin and trying again also resulted in a crash...

So after all, it happens only on certain files, but can't notice any pattern for which it crashes. Two .sln files in the same directory - one crashes, another doesn't.

The last thing I see is "calculating branch explorer layout"... If I try to access the normal History - no crash.

is it possible to send us a fast-export package with no data (cm fe YourRepName --nodata) to debug the issue? If the last tag you can read is "Calculating branch explorer layout" it must be a drawing error.

Yes, it always fails for certain files.

It seems like it is failing for files that have not been modified for a long time. At least those none of the recently commited files leads to the crash. But it's really hard to tell, exactly which ones.

I can't attach the fast-export package, since it's too big 16 MB.
