You just need to configure the tool as the git external merge tool: https://www.semanticmerge.com/documentation/how-to-configure/semanticmerge-configuration-guide.shtml#HowtoconfigurewithGit It should work as well with other git based solutions, as soon as you can manually edit the git config file based on your needs.
