Question on the Plastic MacOSX client.

Hey there,

I'm currently checking out Plastic for our company. Even though quite impressed with the overall feature set, I cannot help but feel the Mac client feels kind of quirky. It seems to require an X11 runtime, which in turn feels like WINE or something running the Windows client of Plastic. Seeing most people in our company work on Macs, and some (depending on their version of OSX) are required to download X11, I am kind of torn. The feature set seems complete, yet the client feels strange. Things like odd font rendering and popup dialogues appearing in the center of my two monitors for instance.

Is there going to be a Mac specific client in the near future? And if not, what are the plans for the future?

Thanks for your time.

Hi Jordi,

I can confirm you that creating a native MAC GUI is in our roadmap. At the moment, we are finishing the MAC client for Semantinc Merge ( http://plasticscm.uservoice.com/forums/196398-mergebegins/suggestions/3723089-os-x-please- )

And, after that, we will start with Plastic MAC client.

Anyway, a lot of costumers have the version we now provide for MAC. X11 is required, you can install  xquartzhttp://xquartz.macosforge.or), that is an open source X11.

Regards,

Carlos

Hi,

Linux and Mac version have by default the black theme. You can also run it on Windows on command line using: "plastic --theme=I3"

You can also run the Windows theme on Linux/Mac: "plastic --theme=windowsnative"  but it doesn´t look very good.

Regards,

Carlos
