pfcbuilder
Hello, I am just curious; when I checked in my files, does Plastic store the files in the Database ? or does it store in a directory some where on the Harddrive ? Thank You
psantosl
Everything is stored inside the database. That's one of the beauties of Plastic SCM. They're stored in zip format. And... yes, it is fast as hell.
pfcbuilder
So when I do a backup, I need to backup the DB (I am using MySQL) and the *.fdb file as well. So if my server failed then all I have to do is reimporting the DB and all the *.fdb files. Is that correct ? By the way, which table in the DB does its stored the .zip file ? psantosl
If you're using MySql, then the FDB files are useless. They must be there because you run some sort of test before using MySql . If you back up mysql, the only thing you've to do to restore is to restore the backup. I'll send you the script we use for the backups from mysql. There's a flag you must activate or otherwise mysql tends to export some wrong binary data. Let me check. roadrunner
FYI: The firebird files are in the 4.0 install. (At least on the beta version they were.)
psantosl
Hi guys! In order to backup your mysql, the "trick" is: - use mysqldump as usual but remember to add "--hex-dump" param in order to get the binaries handled correctly Not sure if it is a problem anymore on modern installs but it used to save your day at least 2 years ago. pfcbuilder
I see that plasticscm created 3 databases in my mysql DB: rep_1, rep_2, rep_3 Do I need to backup all the 3 databases ? btw, mysqldump 5.5 doesn't have --hex-dump option. manu
Hi pfcbuilder, yes, and also include a data base called "repositories", this database is the one that keeps a reference to all your repositories data bases. Just to summarize the PlasticSCM databases: * repositories: One per server, it includes references to all your repositories. * rep_x : One per repository created. Regards, Manu.
