gregsohl
Thanks again for yesterday's webinar on advanced merge topics. Afterwards we had a question about the options for handing Divergent-Move. Q: When a Divergent-Move is detected, why is there not an option to keep both copies, selecting to treat one or the other copy as a new item, retaining the history in the other? My GIT guy says that is an option with GIT that he has used in the past. Seems like it would be a nice, though probably not frequently used enhancement. Thanks. manu
Hi Greg, but at the end of the day why do you want to keep a duplicated file in two different location? What are you going to win doing that?
psantosl
Well, a divergent in Git keeps two files, no way it helps you completing it! It happens because we do track directories and renames while git doesn't... Mr. Torvalds Über guru must have his reasons, but for companies out there precise file tracking seems to be really a game changer.
