Welton
I frequently get the following message when running the Plastic SCM client: The process cannot access the file '...guiclient.conf' because it is being used by another process. When I check to see what processing is locking the guiclient.conf I see that it is Internet Explorer. Any idea why this would happen? I am running Window 7x64, IE9 and Plastic 4.1.10.335. I have attached screen shots of the error message, and from the utility that I used to check the file.

calbzam
Please, can you try to disable Shell Extension and work some time this way to check if you get the same message. To disable Shell Extension: Right click on a blank part of the folder (if you click on a file, the option doesn´t appear) --> Plastic SCM --> Disable extension If you have problems let me know! Welton
OK, I have disabled the Shell Extension yesterday. This morning I got the same error, but for the client.conf file this time. I checked unlocker, and it was iexplore.exe again that was locking the file. And I just got the error again for the guiclient.conf. I was switching workspace tabs when the error occurred.
Welton
Well, I thought I had found the issue. I had the Google toolbar installed in my browser. After disabling the toolbar, the problem stopped for a few days, but it just happened again.
manu
Hi Welton, can you please verify that the process is the Internet explorer and not the windows explorer? Which tool are you using to identify the process that's using the .conf file? Do you have any antivirus enabled?
Welton
Hi Manu, Yes, it is definitely internet explorer. I'm using Unlocker from http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/. I included a screenshot in my original post that shows the tool and its results. And yes, I do have an anti-virus running. Its called sophos, and was installed by our corporate IT department.
